Brett is Southpoint’s founding minister (since 1992), and has served in ministries in Ohio, Indiana and Michigan since 1984. His degrees in Bible, Ministry and Theology (B.A., M.A., M.Div.) come from Cincinnati Bible College & Seminary. In Indianapolis, Brett worked as a Christian radio announcer, met his wife, Penny, in their church youth group (also a CBC graduate and a Southpoint Administrative Assistant), and married in 1985. They have two married sons & a grandson.

Cindy started attending Southpoint in 1994 after seeing an ad that said, “Come as you are!” She met her husband, Greg, at Southpoint & married in 2000. They have a bunch of amazing kids & grandkids that they love hanging out with whenever possible. Cindy started on staff in 2005 after working in the legal field for 17 years & has a passion to make sure people are welcomed, connected & growing in their relationship with Jesus. She loves to go to concerts, collect vinyl records, & at home she relaxes by watching her favorite shows & movies and spending time with her family & friends.

Ben was born in Texas but raised in Kansas, with his seven other siblings. When he graduated high school, he returned to Texas where he served in a ministry for five years. He met a Michigan gal there named Amy. They dated long distance for a few years then got married & served in youth ministry in Virginia. In 2012, Ben & Amy moved back to Michigan to be closer to family, & that’s when they made Southpoint their home church. Ben loves to write songs, play his guitar & sing, play basketball, & hang out with family & friends. Ben & Amy have two daughters: Moriah & Selah.

JoEllen was born & raised in Trenton. With a Masters in Education, she spent nearly 10 years as a public school teacher before deciding to home school her own children. JoEllen has served in the NexGen ministry in some capacity since 2005 before joining the staff team in 2015. Married in 2001, JoEllen & her husband, Chris, have three teenagers: Haydn, Rylee, and McKay. When not writing lessons, prepping for students on the weekend, or trying to keep up with the latest teen culture, JoEllen loves to cook, exercise, read, & watch movies with her family. Her passion is for students and their families to love God deeply & share His truth boldly.

Rachel was born in New York, but was raised in Southeast Michigan. She has a Bachelors in Electronic Media & Film Studies. She married her husband Michael in 2011 & they have three children together: Sophia, Eric, & Kaycee. They started serving at Southpoint shortly after they became members in 2011, & Rachel came on staff in 2019. Rachel loves baking, being crafty, & spending time with her family & friends. 

Jenna has been a member of Southpoint since 2005 & worked in the education field before joining our staff in 2008. She's been married to David since 1989. They are proud parents of a son, Dillan, who serves in the USAF, & their daughter Rachel & her husband Evan, who enjoy working together on their first home & spoiling their fur baby Ahsoka. Jenna's enthusiasm for groups comes from her desire to see others engaging in God's Word & encouraging one another through their relationship with Christ. She's always available to meet & come alongside those ready to follow Christ & make the Best Decision Ever through baptism. When she has spare time she enjoys reading, silent movies, organizing anything, & hanging out with her family & close friends.

Dawnell has been a member of Southpoint since 2006, & worked in the medical field for 17 years before joining our staff. As a volunteer, she has been dedicated to Info Central & supporting C-Groups for many years, became the Trenton Campus Pastor’s Administrative Assistant in 2014, & hired on to her staff role in July 2017. Dawnell has been married to Thomas since 1993 & they have 3 children: Aaron, Aden & Emma. When not around Southpoint, she’s usually attending her son’s hockey games, her daughter’s softball, dance or cheer, or just spending time with family.

Kim grew up in Downriver, where she met her husband John in 1991 & eventually married. They later moved out of Downriver, & during this time Kim worked in both the dental and medical field. They returned to Downriver to raise two awesome kids, Sydney & Zachary. Looking for a Church home, they were invited to Southpoint in 2008. They immediately felt right at home & jumped right in! It was in her small groups & serving, where she found her passion. Her greatest desire is to see everyone know & love Jesus by connecting people in the Church, to one another & to God. This is how her role, as the Connection’s Director at Southpoint, came about. Kim enjoys games (she can be very competitive at times), coffee, camping & hanging out with her family & friends—although not in that order.

Paul has been a member of Southpoint since 2015 & came on staff in 2021. He has a passion to help lead others to Christ, get them connected, & grow in their relationship with Jesus. He has been married to his wife Katherina since 1998 & they have two kids, PJ & Sarah, who are both active and serving at Southpoint.
